On Thur., July 25, Dr. Daniele Mckay, geologist and adjunct instructor in the Dept. of Earth Sciences at the Univ. of Oregon, will give a presentation on recent geologic research that has changed our understanding of Central Oregon landscapes. The 7th annual Newberry Event: A Music & Arts Festival to Defeat MS, will take place at the Diamond Stone Guest Lodges (halfway between Sunriver and La Pine off Huntington Rd), from July 26 to July 28. The three day event, which has been voted "Oregon's Hidden Gem Festival" features over 20 bands and is highlighted by a Saturday performance by Tal Wilkinfeld. The 10th Annual Sunriver Art Fair, sponsored by the Sunriver Women's Club (SRWC), will be held in the Village at Sunriver from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, on Fri &, Sat., August 9 &10 and 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on Sun., August 11. The annual Sunriver Half Marathon for a Cause winds through a course that shows off some of the Sunriver Valley’s most spectacular views. In 2018, more than 450 runners of all ages raised $38,500 for the St. Charles Cancer Center in Bend, Oregon.
The Pacific Amateur Golf Classic is a three-day, 54-hole stroke-play tournament, culminating in playoff competition at Sunriver Resort's Crosswater Golf Course.
